Class Descriptions:

Amazing Butterflies: Learn butterfly anatomy in a fun and memorable way as well as the four stages of the miraculous metamorphosis of butterflies and moths. This class includes hands-on and close-up examples of each stage of butterfly development. Each student will take home their own caterpillar habitat to observe a caterpillar as it transforms and grows.

Wonderful Water: We will discover what is so wonderful about our planet Earth and all its water. We will converse about how we use water in our home and community. Then we will make our own town/watershed model.

Life Around the River: We will find out what things make a river healthy. We will learn what to look for in and around the water as we do a river dip (sample collecting) and a scavenger hunt.

Biology - Nature and Science: Students will explore the beautiful Almont homestead while completing a hands-on Biology Scavenger Hunt and learning real science and nature vocabulary. Students will investigate pond life using nets and pocket microscopes, identify living organisms, and discover a few common edible plants.

Chemistry - Bubble Science: Students will become bubble scientists as they explore the chemistry behind the perfect bubble through hands-on experiments. Participants will determine if the same bubble solution is best for bubble size, strength, and longevity while learning why bubbles form their unique shape. We will also test whether we can force bubbles into a shape other than a sphere.

Physics - Projectile Fun: What makes for a far-flying projectile? Students will explore the physics of motion and force while investigating how angle  of release, initial speed, air resistance, and mass of the projectile affect distance.

Craft Tent: Students will be able to showcase their creativity by choosing from a variety of fun and engaging craft activities.
