Class Descriptions:
Amazing Butterflies: Learn butterfly anatomy in a fun and memorable way as well as the four stages of the miraculous metamorphosis of butterflies and moths. This class includes hands-on and close-up examples of each stage of butterfly development. Each student will take home their own caterpillar habitat to observe a caterpillar as it transforms and grows.
Survival Skills and Adventure: In this one-day survival class, students will learn practical outdoor basics through hands-on activities, teamwork, and fun challenges! Kids will learn skills such as fire building and safety, first aid, knot tying, camp set-up, and basic orienteering.
Biology - Nature and Science: This class will be similar to “Biology - Nature and Science” on Tuesday but students will explore a different area of the beautiful Almont homestead while completing a hands-on Biology Scavenger Hunt and learning real science and nature vocabulary. Students will investigate pond life using nets and pocket microscopes, identify living organisms, and discover a few common edible plants.
Chemistry - Non-Newtonian Fluids: What is a non-Newtonian fluid and what can we do with them? Participants will explore how these unusual materials respond to force, pressure, and motion while discovering the chemistry behind their unique and surprising properties.
Physics - Water Fun: Students will explore physics through hands-on experiments to discover how water can act as a projectile. Participants will test how force, angle, and pressure affect motion and distance in fun launch challenges.
Craft Tent: Students will be able to showcase their creativity by choosing from a variety of fun and engaging craft activities.
