The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart is about the adventures of the young, but intelligent, Reynard, who goes by Reynie.
At the Learning Institute for the Highly Enlightened, Reynie and his friends learn many things. He discovers that the leader of the Institute, Mr. Curtain, is evil. Mr. Curtain’s brother, Mr. Benedict, is leading a secret mission to the Institute. In the end The Mysterious Benedict Society foils Mr. Curtain’s plans and takes the Whisperer, the most dangerous weapon in the world.
The book is for kids aged 10 and up. The whole plot of the story focuses on foiling the evil principal. The kids are also put in harm’s way lots of times, and some of the kids can be slightly rude. Overall, the book is a good choice to read. The book is also a part of a series, so if you like the first one, you will like the rest.
